Volunteer Positions Within the Club
The Club requires a parent or guardian of each registrant to select one of the following and if you volunteer to be a coach or an assistant coach you must fill out a Volunteer Disclosure Form and submit to a background check.
Coach
A Coach must run one practice a week and attends games on Saturdays during September and October with an almost all-day tournament at the end of the season. The coach is responsible for providing player evaluations for the Intramural Committee's effort to make equal strength teams next season. A coach must obtain or already hold an F-license or a Rutgers' S.A.F.E.T.Y. clinic certificate. The Club pays for that training. A coach will also be obligated to undergo a background check. The coach's main responsibility is to make sure the soccer experience is fun for the kids.
Assistant Coach
An Assistant Coach provides the head Coach with assistance in all of the above aspects of the coaching job. The assistant coach coordinates with the head Coach to make sure there is always coverage at every WMSC sponsored practice and game.
Donation
A family donation of $25 may be made in lieu of volunteering for any of the above positions. WMSC requires a large commitment of time and energy from many parents to provide a fun environment for the kids. Of course, we realize that some parents do not have the time to give to the club, so we ask instead a modest, tax-deductible contribution to defray the cost of hiring help in certain areas.
